"Although I am a retired public school educator, with 30 years of teaching and administration experience at the middle school, high school, and collegiate level, I am still very much interested in the quality of education that our children receive, particularly in Texas public schools.  Given the constant attacks on public education by the Republican-controlled Texas Legislature, it is apparent to me that Texas Republicans want to destroy public schools and divert public funding to private and charter schools instead.  That is not right!  I fought for public schools as a professional, I fought for public education as a political candidate, and as a retiree, I continue that fight.  Our children deserve nothing less from us."
