Dr. Marsha Burnett-Webster
(Political Activist Focusing on Public Education)
"When I was a candidate for the Texas State Board of Education, I visited all the counties within the district and spoke to many different organizations. Many of those visits are highlighted below. Although I am not a candidate now, I continue to speak out about education in every venue I can."
Like other Democratic candidates, COVID-19 hampered my campaign's ability to get out and meet as many people in-person as I would have liked, but we were able to use ZOOM to connect with voters as much as possible. And we had limited in-person contact with supporters to distribute campaign material.
I hope you had a great, but safe July 4th today. We all are anxious to get back to normal routines and that will happen; it will only happen however when we do our part in maintaining social distancing and wearing masks. I did that today. Instead of participating in a local July 4th parade as I have done for 10 consecutive years, my husband and I held our own parade in our backyard. A few photos from that parade are shown here.
When possible, Dr. Webster continues to visit Democrats throughout SBOE District 10. In between visits to Travis County again, she also visited Washington, Leon, Freestone, Limestone, Robertson, and Williamson counties. Along the way she received additional endorsements from The Austin Chronicle, Pflugerville Area Democrats, Central Austin Democrats, Liberal Austin Democrats, Austin Environmental Democrats, Stonewall Democrats of Austin, and North by Northwest Democrats of Austin.
Dr. Webster continues to visit the counties and constituency groups in the SBOE-10 district, getting her message of 'Education First!' out to voters. She plans to touch base with all 18 counties in the district before early voting begins on February 18th.
Dr. Webster was privileged to speak to many of the precinct chairs at the Travis County Democratic Party Executive Committee meeting on Sunday, January 19th. Thanks County Chair Dyana Limon-Mercado for this opportunity. And thanks to Precinct Chairs Steven Weintraub and Arthur Simon for the hospitality. She looks forward to returning for more active work soon.
